Nancy Smith recognizes the important role of unions in building the middle class, working for higher pay, better benefits, and safer workplaces.
Unfortunately, accounting for inflation, the average middle class family in Michigan has not gotten a raise since 1984. This problem is compounded by Michigan’s “right-to-work” law, which has resulted in wage stagnation. As your state representative, Nancy will fight to revitalize Michigan’s middle class by repealing “right-to-work” and restoring our prevailing wage law.
In addition, Nancy recognizes that an increasing share of Michigan workers are employed in the service sector and the gig economy. As your state representative, Nancy will fight to raise the minimum wage and expand protections for service-sector and gig workers.
